Purple velvet: cherry & apple smoothie

As summer is coming to an end soon and I have not posted a smoothie recipe for some time, I thought it appropriate to share with you today my cherry and apple smoothie recipe.

When I decide to create a new smoothie recipe, I usually always start by choosing a color I would like to drink. Deep purple is in the spotlight today, color that evokes home opulence, and that I associate with the softness of velvet.

Thus I decided to transform the beautiful juicy cherries frozen last June in a rich, thick, tasty and sweet drink. I have added half an apple for texture, raspberries for their fragrance and their tart flavor, and some chia seeds. A combination that will provide you with antioxidants, vitamins, proteins and finally an unforgettable flavor!

Indeed, a portion of 125 grams of cherries covers 20-30% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, 25% for vitamin A and 15% with regard to vitamin B9. Apples are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, as well as raspberries. As for chia seeds, they are recognized for their high omega-3, fiber and protein content.

Serves 1

  • 200 ml unfiltered apple juice
  • 1/2 apple
  • 150 g cherries, pitted
  • 50 gr raspberries
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

Directions

  1. Wash fruit thoroughly.
  2. Remove the heart of the 1/2 apple. Chop into coarse dices.
  3. Blend all ingredients in a  blender.
  4. Serve and drink  immediately.
